Peter Buffett Next "Talk Back Tuesday"

Hello Everyone! Philanthropy is very important to me – there is something rewarding about giving back and knowing that you’ve made a small dent in making a difference in the world. I’ve tried my best to convey my thoughts and goals through my music and a social media site I launched with Akon, www.istheresomethingicando.com. Please check out the site, and the two songs Akon and I have collaborated on (“Blood into Gold” and “Anything”) in effort to support various causes. I would love to talk t… Continue

Justin is now 18 years old and his life expectancy left is unknown. His life consist of dialysis 3 times a week for the rest of his life or and if he can ever get a kidney (which is not an option right now). Both of these medical conditions are "silent killers" and a patients condition could change day to day. As a mother, i… Continue

Theresa McGallicher Christmas in the Sahel Desert

Sandy pants, mirages, wild gazelles, Tuareg tunes, and fried goat cheese were just some of the highlights of the CLO trip to the Tenere Desert and Air Massif of Niger. Our group of 10 adventurous adults and 5 children traveled to Agadez and beyond the week before Christmas. After a 2500 CFA toll and a 12-hour drive from Niamey to Agadez, we reached the launching point for our trip. Some of us stopped overnight at Le Mo

chintamani yogi Report on Peace Club, by Minakshi Yogi

Peace Club in Various Schools

With the very motto 'There is no way to Peace, Peace is the way' YSP has been forming Peace Clubs in various schools and colleges to endorse and enforce Positive Attitude in the mind and deed of the students.

It's quite challenging task to sprout the message of Peace, non-violence and calmness while the invigorating and comfy mind of the children are diverted due to various slogans and chaotic conditions reigning in our society.

Debra Kahn Hope Found at Borehole Tangarwachane

Today I talked with Ariane about the significance of thousands upon thousands of people lining up at the borehole in Tangarwachane to get clean water. The fact that people are traversing great distances (as much as 120 miles) to get water indicates the depth of the catastrophe all around the region where there is no water to be found. Unfortunately, the rains should have started over a month ago, and the lack of rain at the start of th… Continue

chintamani yogi Srijana's story from Dang by Lara Atkin

Srijana is ten years old. She is an intelligent, creative and hugely affectionate child. It is difficult, when one spends time with her, to think that she has gone through so much in her short life, but in another way it's not difficult at all; her story is echoed, again and again, by so many children in this troubled country.

Srijana's father, Bhim, was an only child. His parents died from tub

chintamani yogi My Journey, My Faith (By Chintamani Yogi)

I grew up in a traditional Hindu family in a small village in Dang, in the western part of Nepal. From the beginning of life I understood the true meaning of Pooja / Aarti. We never had dinner without first having evening prayers and receiving blessings from our elders by touching their feet. During the day each member of the household was busy with their own respective activities. Father was

chintamani yogi The Education of Women in Nepal (By Claire Bennett)

Statistically, the picture is bleak for women’s education in Nepal; the literacy rate for females currently stands at just over 30%. Furthermore, a large proportion of women are sent to the badly funded and overcrowded government schools instead of the private English-medium schools that perhaps their brothers are sent to, and often are made to leave school after completing Grade Five at the age of eleven or twelve. The truth is that further educati

chintamani yogi At the Top of the World - a Search for Peace in a Troubled Land (By Matt Daw)

A visitor to the crowded, hectic and polluted Kathmandu Valley might find it hard to believe that it could be the setting for a project aiming to preserve the most traditional and spiritual qualities of the Nepalese culture. As the Valley becomes seemingly more and more materialistic, commercial and removed from the spiritual ideals that have always underpinned the religious and social life of this beautiful country, an institution exists that aims to redress the balance and work towards a re-es… Continue

chintamani yogi Growing into Trees: YSP and Seeds of Peace (By Claire Bennett)

It is still amazing to me how quickly little seeds grow into trees. You plant the seed yourself, protect and nurture the sapling, and before you realise there stands a huge tree; now protecting and nurturing you under its branches.

Hindu Vidya Peeth (HVP) is a school based on the philos
