Profile Information

Where you live (city, state/prov., country)
Bethesda, MD, USA
What brings you to our community?
I am here to be the change...inspiring hearts...one person at a time.

I want to connect people to an incredible project that involves children in America and children in Africa. The life energy, passion and courage stiched into the seams of this project has transformed my life.
What causes/issues are you passionate about?
I care about children. I want children to know that they can be part of what makes the world beautiful: compassion, caring, nature. I want children to know that what they do has the potential to change the world.

I am passionatley involved in working with students to collaborate together - to be the change - and bring water to the beautiful and generous people of the Azawak of Niger, West Africa, an area of dramatic contrasts, where the people have an abundance of spirit but lack the resources, like water, to have healthy lives.
Who or what inspires you?
people who live from their heart...who forge ahead and let the power of the heart lead them to be who they are. People with vision who see possibilities. The Earth. I

I am inspired by Ariane Kirtley, an amazing woman who witnessed an injustice - the suffering and need of the people in the Azawak - and used her resources (her voice, her talents, her energy) to start a chain of events that is leading to making their lives better.
About Me:
Dancer, potter, writer, educator, hiker. I seek to live from my heart. To walk on this earth with an awe and appreciation that I am alive. I am a left-handed writer, with a left of center political perspective and a heart in the right place. A dog-lover, a sister, a friend, a down-to-earth woman, with a penchant for fun and imagination. I like to create with my hands, make rhymes from my mind, set up a tent with a friend. Nature is my playground. The mountains inspire me, and the ocean awes me. I love the plants and the trees, the grasses and the ferns, the rocks and the streams. I like to play and to talk and to laugh. I can be very serious and I can be very silly. I'm good at listening, seeing the multiple perspectives, connecting the dots, finding small truths, finding what is good, having fun, laughing.

Hope Found at Borehole Tangarwachane

Today I talked with Ariane about the significance of thousands upon thousands of people lining up at the borehole in Tangarwachane to get clean water. The fact that people are traversing great distances (as much as 120 miles) to get water indicates the depth of the catastrophe all around the region where there is no water to be found. Unfortunately, the rains should have started over a month ago, and the lack of rain at the start of th… Continue

The Hope of the Azawak

I posted the following on my blog Montessori Students and the Amman Imman Project in November, 2006. This is a project of heart. By way of introduction to this project, I would like to share it with all of you on Power of… Continue
